I had read a prior tip some time ago from Connie? regarding collecting & I thought she had suggested using the "wand" of the ChuckIt toy?; I think this was an awesome suggestion, & think it may work, as using aluminum pie tin type noise would be my concern, or rather, more Lacey's concern.
I also had read to collect 1st a.m., mid stream urine?; I'm going to attemp to hide the "beloved toy" for collecting purposes, my question, I guess a small sample goes a long way? As enough of a sample for testing.
You could use a soup ladle and then make sure you lable it and put it somewhere away from the kitchen so it is never used for anything other than urine collecting.
The "ChuckIt" is plastic (less/no noise) & I am washing it (with some "bite" marks) for collection.
Also, thanks to for the "don't need much" = that will help lots too!!
One last question, I was going to use small, individual size yogurt container with lid for transport, but then with my search found mention of "air tight" container; is this important, the container being "air tight"?
ty again!
I have all weekend to "marker" train this,ha, as vet not open today, & will drop off immediately after collection on Monday, but vet is about 30 minute drive.
Hard to get past "that", let alone be "sneaky" with the beloved ChuckIt toy of all things!!!
But gotta work with that "handle", as soup ladle would have me too far down in her biz?!! That would really warrent a "look", ie, interuption!!
Got to be on the "sneak"!!
(Like I can get one, anything, past Lacey = that is the real funny one she thinks!!)
A paper bathroom cup, taped to the end of something long, your choice! Yes, you always want to wait a few seconds to let it 'flush' and then catch the middle portion. I've used paper cups taped to brooms, sticks, hangers... anything. It may be a good idea to desensitize your dog to the new thing thats hanging around there butt before you ask for a potty.
The collection thing really should be sterile. A small glass jar that's been thru your dishwasher, and the lid kept on until right before the "catch" works well. Attach to the stick of your choice.
