Friend of mine's not-a-very-good-dog-owner sister just bought a VERY sick 7 week old puppy from a breeder. I'm trying to find that breeder because there is a puppy lemon law in MA and this entire situation is bad (I still can't believe she KNOWINGLY took home a visibly sick puppy). The sister can't remember much about the breeder. This is a german shepherd puppy
What I know....
1) the puppy's papers are fake
2) the breeder has a website
3) the breeder (or the person present) is female
4) she also breeds saint bernards
5) the breeder is "not that far" from central mass
I thought the dual breed thing would make this person easier to find but my google-foo has returned nothing
did she find the puppy on some place like "next day pets" or craigslist or thru the paper? That would be a start to back track. That Next day pets has alot of puppymill people on it that advertise puppies and right now there is only 1 person on there with saints in MA with an older puppy but since you have to register to get her info it makes it hard to cross on shepherds.
330 CMR 12.05 Massachusetts Pet "Lemon Law." Provides, in part: "All licensees shall provide a substitution or a full refund of the purchase price of any dog or cat to any purchaser who: (a) within 14 calendar days of sale has the dog or cat examined by a licensed veterinarian of his or her choice, and the examination indicates the dog or cat is diseased or has a congenital disorder; and (b) presents the dog or cat, a veterinarian's written statement that the dog or cat is diseased or has a congenital disorder, and proof of sale within two business days of the date of the examination."
I don't know if it pertains to a BYB, nor the selling of an animal under 8 weeks of age, which is illegal in Ma, depending on where she got the pup.
