Anyone want to join me in training a new behavior every month in 2011?
I train best when I have a deadline. So I'm contemplating trying to train a new behavior each month. I thought it might be fun to do it as a group. Not a contest (though the contests are super fun :grin, just a challenge. We could have a thread each month to post a video or description of what we did that month.
That would be great. Maybe someone could make suggestions.
What I should be doing is getting the basics better, but that's not as much fun as a new things.
The challenge sounds great! But, I am still working on behaviors (extinguishing some negative ones and reinforcing good ones) from a year ago. Although the retrospection has led me to realize that I am actually making progress....

If you want to use this as a progress report that would work just fine! It doesn't have to be completely new behaviors, just show progress each month. Say one month you do a 3 minute down stay with low distractions (back yard) then the next month you do a 3 minute down stay with high distractions (in a park with a playground). You're demonstrating progress in your dog's training.
