Am trying to find info on czech's their size, and so on but cant really find much about them. Rayne is 6.5months and 23 at the withers about 65lbs. She is as tall as my 6yr old mal/shep mix at the moment. just need a good web site on the czech dogs or info. her mother was tall, but not really heavy. thanks for any help
There's no standard for which lines grow to which sizes.
Even within a litter, two dogs can end up being dramatically different sizes. Danke's brother is 90lbs. She is 55.
Wow!
I find that really odd from my experience Aaron.
I've always found that no matter the varying growth rates (age wise) within the litter, they always seem to end up within about 10 or 12 #'s of each other in the end.
Er, all things being reasonably equal.
Sounds like she will be a big girl. My pup has some Czech dogs in his background...he currently weighs 66 lbs and is probably about 24 inches tall at 7.5 months (tall and NARROW!). My two females are smaller than him now, both also have Czech backgrounds.

From what I've heard, her sire tends to produce big males, and more compact females. Just an odd quirk of genetics, I guess.
Or perhaps, he only imparts his size on the males, and the females end up mom's size.
I'd have to find some females from a litter by a different dam.
The problem is finding ones that are intact, since we know spay/neuter tends to create larger than normal dogs.
What is the rest of the litter doing Aaron?
Ahem, what I mean is here's Strider beginning last summer at 83# both wet and dry
At that time he was the heaviest (thus far of the litter) even though he was next to lightest in #'s for pecking order of the litter but has since seemed to evened out to the 82/84# mark (probably won't stay there in the next 2 couple of years) and the rest of the litter has caught up to him give or take a pound here or there.
So I guess I was saying or asking is, how the rest of the litter was doing. That gives a better handle on size and final weight.
The littermate I know the most about is the stud dog for a police department in Ireland. He's the big fella I mentioned above.
I *assume* they're keeping him pretty trim, but I haven't seen a picture in quite some time, so I honestly have no idea.
There were only three males in Danke's litter, and I don't know where the other two are, so it's *possible* that he's the freak of the litter and the other two are smaller.
I had heard awhile ago that one of the two was a SAR dog up in Alaska, but no mention of his size.
