“We wanted to breed the two because the Belgian Malinois is a very fast and active dog and they can get to great speeds. They also have a high prey drive, but they do tend to over-heat and get tired very quickly.
“With the Siberian Husky they can get to great speeds and can run great distances with their stamina. So now we have a Malinois which can run that little bit further and be that little bit bulkier.”
It is interesting that they've never successfully bred. I have some doubt to that. Don't you Phaedra? I wonder if all these failed past attempts are documented, and parents are healthy, etc. Seems odd!
I'm 100% with you. I'm not sure why you'd ever want to mix the 2, but whatever. People are crazy.

Edit reason: didn't check my spelling. :) oops!
I've had a husky and now have Mal...blending the two as one, ah, yeah....no!
“We wanted to breed the two because the Belgian Malinois is a very fast and active dog and they can get to great speeds. They also have a high prey drive, but they do tend to over-heat and get tired very quickly."
Hmmm...have never seen mine even remotely tire quickly or over-heat? Anyone? Anyone?
Somehow the human in this story slipped through Mother Nature's selection of the fittest
Another idiot with a good PR/marketing man!
You can breed ANY two dogs and the outcome still depends on what the parents have to offer. "Breed" by itself has little to do with it
Nothing that can't be found in either of those breeds if you look hard enough.
"Owner Darren reckons the new breed could be deadly."
Idiot.
My sister lives in the same town as this crack-pot. I'll have to warn her about these "deadly" dogs who will soon to be prowling her neighborhood. lol.
Do all the references in the article about the dogs being deadly and terrifying bother anyone else? That seems to be a way to guarantee that the wrong type of person becomes interested in what will no doubt be a high energy dog that needs an experienced owner. It really makes me question how professional the breeder is.
