I'm visiting my cousin in OR and of course, left the puppies at home. Boy, do I ever miss them, especially my boy JD!
Is it just me, or do any of you feel this way, too, when you're away from home without your dogs?
I'm not crazy enough to call and talk to them (although my husband did have JD bark into the phone last night).
Hmmmm....am I becoming that "crazy dog lady"????

Yes you are becoming a crazy dog lady - it's an elite club
I only leave my dog when I go to the USA for a few weeks, a few times a year... Otherwise he's with me pretty much 24/7. Seperation is hard.

Whew, glad to know I'm not alone! Many of my friends think I'm nuts

A lot of people I know take their dogs on vacation with them. My hubby isn't a fan of that idea.

The only issue with taking dogs on holiday is that you have to adapt your holiday to suit them.
When holidaying in this country I rent a cottage rather than a hotel. That way I can get either a rural location or a fenced yard. Most places say not to leave dogs in the cottage but I just crate. Then I can go to places that do not allow dogs like out for dinner. That said holidays with dogs always seem to turn into walking / hiking holidays more than anything else.

I'm all for taking my puppies when I can, but not this trip. They didn't have to stay in a kennel. They're home with the hubby being spoiled rotten, I'm sure.
I imagine that I probably miss them more than they miss me!

You're not alone, Dana. I HATE leaving my dogs to go on vacation. Paul and I have adapted our vacations to include Toni and Caterina... the two most likely to get into trouble when we are gone. The other 3 stay home and a neighbor checks on them. I call the neighbor at LEAST 20 times a day to see how the dogs are.
Oh, and I actually HAVE called and talked to the dogs through the answering machine. Paul thinks I'm nuts. We get home and there's like 20 messages with me saying "Hi Girls!!! Hope you are behaving! Drift, get out of the garbage!!"
Do I pick up my "crazy dog lady" award or will it be sent to me??
