The closest I have to owning my own is the horse we donated to Dream Catchers (therapeutic riding center for individuals with special needs) in our son's memory. Nobie is a beautiful Haflinger gelding who is too smart for his own good. He is trained to drive and we hope to eventually use him to assist children who can not leave their wheelchairs. In the mean time, he is used five days a week for children with special needs. He ROCKS.
Not a mean bone in this guy's body. His nickname is Fabio, for obvious reasons.
Nobie's adorable! Do you ever drive him? I have a mini, Pepper, I got and drive around the fields around our home. Black, 4 white feet and white wishbone mark on his withers, for good luck.
Wasn't it Bill Cosby who said something about "give me an army of two years olds and I can conquer the world"??
No, I have not driven Nobie, but have had the pleasure of being driven BY Nobie. I don't yet have that skill, but certainly have the skill to sit next to the driver.
I have an Arab gelding named Mojo. I got him as a weanling, and he is 12 this year. Here is a pic of him as a 4 year old: Mojo Running and as a 10 year old Mr. Mojo
And a shot of him and my mini Jack: Mo and Jack 2005 Jack is a 28" mini stud that I gave to a young adult with Downs. Jack was the only horse he could handle and he needed Jack more than Mojo and I did... Jack went to half of the pre-schools and elementary schools in town and love to be loved on. He would just jump in the back of my Camry and stick his head out the window like a dog! With his light coloring, I would let the kids use washable finger paints on him and all the girls wanted to brush and braid his mane and tail. Grazing
This is Mojo, my OH Rob and Jayden (I think Jayden is 6 in the pic...). Jay Riding Rob is 6'5", so he makes Mojo look small
Mo really is a great sport! Two years ago the barn we boarded at was in the Halloween Parade and one of the girls there wanted to ride him in it. Can you guess what he was? Costume 1 This next one is a bad shot, and shows her riding inexperience, but he was having a blast with his costume waving all around!!! Costume 2 How many horses do you know that would let a novice rider canter around like that?
