Two behaviors from which to select: Tracking (either FST or Circle) and Object Identification. You MAY have already been working on these behaviors prior to this contest announcement but have to participate in your level of ability (see below).
Four levels of competition:
Beginner - those just getting started in working with their dogs who have not competed in the prior to LB contests.
Novice: Trainers who have more experience and who have competed in prior LB contests, but who do not compete in sports or agility.
Advanced: Those trainers who have been competing in sports or agility for up to one year.
Professional: Those trainers who have been training in sports/agility for over one year.
Participants must declare in which level they are training and may not change to a lower level if their behavior is not going as planned. This will allow the Beginners to "shine" without competing with more experienced folks.
You may enter more than one dog and can select either the same behavior or two different behaviors.
Prizes for First, Second and Third place winners in each category include Braggin' Rights, Braggin' Rights and Braggin' Rights. (If anyone has suggestions on prizes for perhaps just the four First Place winners - let me know, but I don't think getting together twelve prizes is possible/necessary.)
Videos may be posted up until midnight, Sunday, February 27th. (A separate thread will be created ONLY for posting videos and another thread for posting comments on the videos.)
Voting will be open through midnight, Thursday, March 3rd and winners will be acknowledged on Friday, March 4th.
Participants are encouraged to video the process and not just the final result!
Everyone participating is doing so for fun and to learn, and NO feelings will be harmed in the voting process. The participants request that everyone vote and give them encouragement and advice!
Best of luck to everyone, and more importantly, Happy Training!!
Oh..please clarify the article discrimination....do they just have to touch/identify the article...or do they have to take and retrieve it back to you?
Willie, I would say either is fine - some dogs will have the skill to retrieve the article but some may just be at the "touch it" phase. If they don't have the retrieve yet but you want to train it in conjunction with the identify - that is great! I'd say your girls can select either the Beginner or Novice level.
