I am thinking of subscribing to the Whole Dog Journal. I'm betting at least a few of you out there are subscribers and may be able to answer my questions. First of all, I was confused as to whether this was an online-only or a print magazine, and was able to get that question answered by WDJ customer service. It is a print magazine.
However, when I started asking questions about the online version, they were unable to answer. What I'm specifically wondering is, if you are a subscriber, do you have access to the back issue archive online, or do you still have to pay for back issues?
I was referred by their customer service to another number to call for this question, and I got a recorded message saying we're not here, leave a message, etc. Just thought I might get a faster and more accurate answer here.
Scroll to "And now we’re happy to give you, our readers, an additional resource in the care and training of your dog. The Whole Dog Journal website has undergone a complete overhaul. Among other things, the new site features this new blog, a complete archive of all of our past content available FREE to paid subscribers and the ability to comment on any of these articles. Take a look around and enjoy."

I'm a subscriber too. I've subscribed to half a dozen different Dog magazines, and it's the only one I found that has any real content for people who have any experience with dogs at all. I learn something new from it every month.
Subscribers to the monthly print have online access.
It's not a glossy or thick publication--just so you know. It's usually like 24 pages or so, 3-4 articles per edition, and no "fluff." There are no ads.
Thanks very much for the answer to my question, as well as the endorsements! They're running a special price for subscriptions online, and it seems like a great deal. Doesn't matter to me if it's a small publication. Between the printed magazine and the Web site, it looks like there will be more than enough good information to be worthwhile.
I too subscribe and look forward to getting the issue every time.
There is always very valuable info in there and I love that it isn't full of tons of advertisements. Just loaded with tons of info.
I also love that it comes with the three ring binder holes for saving in a binder.
Think it is money well spent, I can't imagine anyone regretting subscribing.
Ooo what a good Birthday/Christmas present to ask for! I have never heard of it, glad to know it is a good one. A lot of dog magazines have stupid articles and cost like $10.
