Bogie is 3 months old. How far can I walk with him? A mile or two? 30 minutes? What is the guideline?

My advice is to let the pup do as much as he's able under his own steam. No forced marches. But as long as he's able to walk, stop, sniff, run back to you, etc., largely setting his own pace, then I think little pups can do more than you think. At this very young age, keep it fun and informal. He's too little for proper "leash walking" with any expectation of him keeping pace with you. 30 minutes of activity for a pup isn't too much, IMO. (a tired pup is a good pup!) Many people like to limit how much "walking" very young pups do on hard surfaces, and limit a lot of jumping, which seems like a good idea to protect young bones and joints.

One block per month of age.
6 mos old= 6 blocks etc etc until bones harden and joints mature.

Is this a block of actual pretty fast walking? Can it be more if the puppy is just fooling around, taking his time, maybe on dirt rather than cement?
That sounds like a sensible rule of thumb. Not having puppies, I never heard this, but it sounds like a good rough guide.

Blocks aren't totally standard but there are 12 to a mile in my city. Generally a city block is the space between one street and the next.
It takes us 3 minutes to walk the two blocks to my son's school in the morning, including waiting for the crossing guard.

I've usually been told to limit pups walking to about 1/2 a mile or so until 6 months when they can go a little longer just to look after the joints. The hard part I found with puppies is if they stop on a walk, are they too tired or just that stubborn puppy thing where they just don't want to move anymore? Don't want to get in the habit of carrying the puppy home every time.

Personally, I'm not going to walk a 3 month old pup a half mile. Everyone is pretty close and common sense should prevail. An average block is about 1/8 th mile depending on where you live. I want the walk to be fun and not a chore for the pup, that way they look forward to it in the future. Seems just walking a dog is a chore for some people but if you ease into it when they're young and maybe do some minor healing with food during the walk it will pay dividends in the future.
I heard of the one block rule about 10 years ago. I've stuck to it and it works for me. I don't raise alot of puppies but the ones I did raise were fine with this. These same pups were also getting drive building work at a young age as well as other types of physical exercises/training preparing them for the work they were to do in the future.

OK what about not a 'formal' walk but walking off-lead in the woods? My son & his friends take Bogie out to the woods and play. He jumps across the creek with them, climbs over fallen logs, and generally just has a good time. He might be out there with them 45 minutes to an hour at a time. He doesn't come back *looking* exhausted but he takes a nap right away--LOL!

I can't imagine a more ideal way to exercise and wear out a puppy. Not only is he getting exercise, he's learning about walking on different surfaces, getting early exposure to water and obstacles, and bonding with humans. Remind your son to remember that the pup is a baby and not to encourage him to do anything risky (luring him to a too-high jump, for example)--and to watch the pup at all times (he shouldn't be allowed to wander in the woods unsupervised.) Otherwise, I'd say he's a very luck puppy.
