Danni and Conan are still not out of crates together. In the morning, I get up and feed Conan and he lays on our bed afterwards. Then I take Danni out, open her crate and straight out the bedroom door. Conan scoots away and Danni hardly even notices him. Same thing when I put her back in her crate. That's the only time they are out together. Oh, unless Garrett and I walk them together. They go on walks together no problem.
Conan snaps at Danni when she sniffs him for more than half a second. So I just keep her out of his face. I usually have her on leash near me. But she goes stir crazy. She needs something to do. She doesn't just relax. If I want her to lay down I give her something to chew on. But I don't want to have food or toys out when introducing them.
Conan has tried to play with Danni when they are out together both leashed. But if she tries to play back (even without getting within his bubble or making contact) he gets defensive. But he continues to try to play with her if she is crated and he isn't. I don't let him though because it's teasing her and unfair. But he will try.
Conan has been attacked by a Boxer before that someone had off leash. He was probably only a year or so old.
It sounds like you guys are doing pretty well so far.
I would continue with the walks and other things you are doing.
Could you and Garrett each take a dog and do some basic OB near each other but not right together?
I will be interested to see how this all works out and what your progress is like. When we eventually add another dog to our house the situation will likely be much the same due to Loki's discomfort with other large dogs.
Also if you want to give Danni a better opportunity to sniff and allow Conan to sniff her without the same confrontation I've had good results with letting them sniff while walking.
The key is to keep the dog being sniffed focused on walking forward and marching right along. Then allow the sniffer to get a sniff and then switch.

Conan will just stop walking and snap or turn to go the other way. And when he tries to sniff Danni she looks to see what he's doing and he gets upset again.

Possibly. Now that I'm thinking about it, it might. I've thought them both to sit before we cross the street. They both do it automatically, even together. So hmmm...
It doesn't have to be a prolonged sniffing just a quick sniff to where by the time the dog being sniffed realizes what's going on it's already over. Doing this several times during your walks might help move things a long.
