Forgive my ignorance, and my inexperience, but WOW does a prong work! It took 2 corrections and I didn't fly down the road today..... Dude like had some focus that I have never seen out of him after that!!!!!!!!!! The walk was fun, and heeling was fun, and he didn't even try to herd all the kids coming off the buses today!!!!!!!!!!!! WEEEEHEEEEEEEEEEEEE

GEEZ... they aren't joking...... it was amazing........
I did see him flip around looking for what pinched him with his mouth open.... do I need to be concerned that he will do the handler aggressive thing? He was still very alert and open to praise and treats ,,,,
where do you live in OKC? I moved from OKC about 4 years ago... Piedmont actually How is the OKC dog scene?

If you are just letting him self-correct, then he'll figure it out pretty quickly...he shouldn't redirect on you...
@ Lynne... I did it just like I watched ed last night...... hahahahahha.... I said "no" and then gave a correction then when he turned back and came to the side, I petted him and praised him.

I also recently got a prong for my dog. I was hesitant at first because everyone told me they were for thick hair dogs only. Gotta say, I can never go back now.
I am sure he doesnt like the corrections but they don't seem to hurt him. I know he enjoys the positive side, which is that I am able to take him on much longer walks than before.
@ Michael..... WORD!!!!!!!!! I was seriously at the point where I didn't want to go out because I knew what it would entail........ a whole lot of being drug around.... ah

I'm back on the prong with a DD back up - I find it works best if I adjust it up behind his ears at each stop. Otherwise it slips down and isn't as effective. I don't know if it is the size of Jethro's neck or what, but either it is too tight - like he is on constant correction, or it is slightly loose and slipping down. All his collars slip down, even the properly sized DD (I have two now). I've also added a length of collar harness between the DD and the prong - to make sure the prong activity isn't being compromised by any tightening on the DD.
Skipper's prong just arrived! So I'll have him on his own mini-version. Enough of this tugging for sniffs (I will let you know when it is time to take a sniff break)!
