After breaking into an Oregon residence last night, Timothy Chapek, 24, barricaded himself in a bathroom after the owner unexpectedly arrived home. Chapek, you see, was worried that Hilary Mackenzie might be armed (or that her barking German Shepherds could prove problematic).

I just can't understand the mindset of a home owner that would allow this to happen...
I mean, you enter your home, you see the intruder, you shoot them.
You check to make sure that they can't harm you, then you call the police.
Problem solved, and society isn't burdened with housing some loser for the next five years in a prison - it's a win-win solution all around.

You check to make sure that they can't harm you, then you call the police.
