I recently posted about my dog.
Now I am feeling 100% and am able to walk Izzy.
But now I am having another issue there are roaming pit bulls in my neighborhood and today was the scariest momenta of my life we( Izzy and I) were waking home when I heard barking in the distance.
I turned around and saw a pit so I started to walk faster when it started to run I picked up Izzy ( i know stupid thing to do) but i was not thinking she caught up with us and I started kicking at her luckily she backed away but then Izzy decided to star moving so the pit started to come closer so again I kicked at her when i finally made it to the house I went up and squished Izzy between the clear door and other door and started knocking as hard and fast as I could and got in.
Izzy then decides to act like a guard dog barking and growling like crazy.
My sister says I can no longer walk my dog, but she needs exercise badly. What can i do besides the flirt pole to get her exercise?
I am sorry if my writing is horrid but I am shaking really badly.

Hi Elizabeth
First thing's first, go make yourself a nice cup of tea and calm down. The more upset you are the more you are going to upset your dog, you and your sister. I understand that this was really stressful, most of us have been through something like this and so we can symphathise.
Secondly go and buy some (mace? bear spray? teargas?- don't know what you yanks can have) and find a big stick. Next time you walk if you see a loose dog, don't walk faster or run away from it. Continue walking while keeping an eye on the dog, it comes too close yell at it and give it a good squirt. The stick is there for obvious reasons.
Said dog will most likely not bother you again.
Keeping a fit, healthy dog inside and playing high drive games (like a flirt pole) will eventually give you a high-energy neurotic dog. Playing is no substitute for exersise.
I am embarrassed to say i'm 18 I still want to walk my dog however my sister say its come to a point of being brave and stupid. I am 5'0 and she is making me doubt myself in this kind of situation. However I will start carrying a big stick and mace and tell her I can handle the loose pits during my walks with Izzy. She is a nurse for the ICU and has seen the after affects of a dog attack so she has become paranoid since they are pit bulls.
I have calmed down enough and will sit down and tell her I will continue walking Izzy no matter what.

Just curious -why are loose pit bulls being tolerated? Did you call animal control immediately when you got home? Even if you are in more rural Georgia and there is no AC per se I would call the local SO (Sheriff's Office) -say you were chased home by an aggessive dog and were almost bitten...
I don't blame you one bit for being scared. My sister had her beloved Papillon killed in front of her by a loose pit bull..
Owners like these have to cooperate with public safety or have their animals removed from their "care"
If it's not 'safe' in your neighborhood, maybe you can drive to another location to walk the pup?
Keep in mind just because it's a PitBull, does NOT necessarily mean that it is a vicious, dangerous dog. I'm not saying to let Izzy play- I never let a strange dog approach me on walks- but you don't need to have the instant fight or flight reaction I don't think.
Be prepared. Get a sturdy stick/pole. Buy some pepper spray. If the dog gets within your comfort zone Holler at it, and use a low, growling, loud voice. Let them know you DON'T want to be approached. This may be enough to scare off a dog who is just out and about, bored. If it continues to come closer, spray it in the face with pepper spray.
Deep Breath. You'll get it worked out. Good for you, for trying to do the best thing for Izzy!
Remember what Tanith said- (rephrased) if you're calm, it will help Izzy stay calm. She needs to know you've got the situation under control.

OK -sorry, hope I didn't come across too strong -I know you have been sick -I want you and little Izzy to be safe of course...I'm just a little passionate about what idiots are doing to the American Pit Bulldog...
It's okay you did not I don't hate pit bulls just would never own one. I have not called AC before because we just moved to this neighborhood and do not want to cause problems. One of the owners that I know of is not a good person and we are kinda scared of them . So we really did not want to cause issues but enough is enough and we did call today.I will start having my sister drop me off at parks and different places to keep Izzy from getting bored.( don' know how to drive yet)
And as soon as our lease it up we are moving
