While the frank horror of the disaster in Japan is still fresh in our minds, I would encourage everyone to take a look at their own evacuation plans in the event of a disaster - make needed updates, recheck ( or make one now ) your G.O.O.D. bag ( get out of Dodge ) , maybe practicing loading up your car and for God's sake - make a plan to take your animals!!
They rely on us, make a plan and don't let them down in an emergency, they have only *you* to count on!
Very good advice, Will. We all need to remember that disasters like this, whether natural or man-made, can happen to any of us, anywhere, anytime. And for gosh sakes, don't rely on the government to help you if something like this happens. That's not meant as an anti-government comment; just pointing out that the government is made up of human beings, and in a disaster of this magnitude, they will be pretty helpless, too.
Great Reminder. Honestly, I just realized I've not updated my GOOD bag since we added Koenig to the crew. Need to add lots of food, and an extra collar w/ tags& leash!
Thanks for this post...we just purchased a house not long ago and Im ashamed to say have no emergency set up at all. What do you recommend? Obv besides canned food. What about the dogs who eat raw? All of this natural disaster stuff is really starting to freak me out. and I live in the land of earthquakes.

Do you mind if I quote you for my friends and family on facebook. I think this is a great reminder to all of us with pets!
