I am so impressed. What does it take to train a dog to take a jump that high, and that flimsy? Just love of the work?, Fearlessness? Or is this the embodiment of drive?
I know dogs who would just plow that thing down instead of trying to jump it.

YUP! Love of the work, and drive. For my dog at least. He LOVES to jump, and will go out of his way to climb/jump on silly things. It does not hurt that I've always encouraged it. He's also fallen off some really dumb things, so fearlessness does play a part, at least with my dog.

Thanks Meredith. Thats actually about 3" short of the full height and he hit it the first time. Part of the reason for it being flimsy like that is so that it will fall apart if he hits it. That makes it easier to mark that it was wrong.
With Chaos its all about the toy. He'll do anything if he thinks there'll be a toy of any kind involved. I started him at a low height and worked on different ways of taking him or sending him over until I settled on the way I'm doing it now and he would crash right through in the beginning because he was trying to long jump it.
A few times of no reward and he has gotten a lot better with it.
