I've been to two grocery store chain in my area, and I cannot find any real pumpkin. Instead, I only seem to find pumpkin filling. Any suggestions?

Natural food stores carry the non-mega-brand small organic brands (unfailingly, IME), and high-end dog-food stores now carry a new organic "pumpkin for dogs" (nothing any different about it from people-pumpkin).
I buy whichever one they have, because whether it's a dollar or double that, how much do you really use? (I freeze any leftovers for next time I need it.)

We still can't find pumpkin in our stores but that's great information Connie, I'm going to try one of the Natural Food stores around here.

Kevin.,..where in CT? Is there a Trader Joes store near you? They ALWAYS have it. Even when everyone else seemed to be out...they still had it. I usually pick up a can every time I'm in there.
Whole Foods stores usually have a good supply of it...just a bit priceyer, even this time of year. You see more of it in stores in the fall for the holidays.
You can use canned squash. Even baby jar squash, which usually doesn't have any additives. Just check the label.
Just the cans that have no ingredients except pumpkin or squash. The pie mixes have sugar & spices in them.
