GAWD I cant wait for this puppy stage to end.
my arms are bleeding, the frantic zooming, the none stop go go go. Mrs Jones doesn't understand why the dog won't lay down and cuddle. I told her that none of my dogs come by that naturaly but are taught that behavior, Also a puppy being still is an unnatural state for them. The only time he is quiet is in crate or traveling to puppy class thank goodness.

Puppy Class.
I was informed by my trainer that I'm doing it wrong and I won't get my puppy cert from her class at this rate. I'm all busted up over that...The only reason I'm in puppy class is to brush up on some training I forgot and to socialise Drago in a very controlled environment as well as training with distraction. She did say in front of the class that not to compair thier progress with Drago because he is a doggy "Einstien". I was a little miffed that she didn't take the time to look at my training goals. Later she must have becauses her attitude changed towards me. I'll have to take her to the side and let her know that I'm going on to other dog sports and Drago is from DDR/Czech border patrol lines. I did like the part where she was teaching the class on how to teach the dog not to eat food dropped on the floor w/o permission. Part of it was to place your hand over the the yummy food on the floor and when the pupper figured out that he wasn't going to get it but would be rewarded for leaving it alone. She picked Drago to demonstrate. Mistake. He chewed the crap out of her hands and drew blood. Seems somebody has been building drive in thier puppy. To her credit she waited him out until he calmed down. Of course I had to go back and fix it. I figure if he keeps drawing blood in class I'll get thrown out and my money back plus get my dog socialized and working thru distractions :}

Our puppy class was terrible. I sympathize.

We were the example of, "Dogs you should not approach."
It was comforting to read on Leerburg that puppy classes weren't so important.

Maybe bring a box of band aides as a peace offering?

Actually it's quite good for pet owners that just want a bicuit cruncher that doesn't jump all over people and and the instructor is knowledgable but she didn't read my training goals. we can fix that.

I'm loving the Drago stories. Just remember Dennis, its only like 20 more months of him being a puppy.

I agree! These last few posts have been very fun to read. It also reminds me of how much work puppies are, and no I don't want to add a 3rd at this time Thanks for the reminder and keep these posts coming
