I just need to vent..... New neighbors moved in across the road. They brought two dogs with them that they tie out most of the day. The dogs bark NON STOP. For no reason. All day.... A.l.l. d.a.y.
My comfortable little routine with Dom has been shattered. I don't like being at odds with neighbors. *sigh*
I spend HOURS training my dog every week. And I get dirty looks from them when I take him outside for a 30 second pee because THEIR dogs flip out??? Really??! My dog HATES other dogs and yet he can actually restrain himself to go outside quietly and do his business.
Time to call and report them. I know you don't want to be enemies with them, but really, dogs barking all day? That's a little much to expect you to deal with!
Its complicated. I'll try to make a long story short. The lady that originally lived there alone was soooo nice. We always try to help her out with her garbage, groceries, we try to salt and shovel her sidewalks for her and be good neighbors. She's very old and her health is going downhill so her daughter moved in with her.. Hence the two dogs.
We really like the older lady : (
I don't want to stress her.
I can tell she isn't happy about the barking either. I soooo hope the situation gets better without having to make phonecalls. But i think the rest of the neighborhood might step in even if I don't. This is so crappy
My neighborhood is full of dogs that bark all day long. I have a screeching pug behind me, a doxie across the street and a yorkie next door. So I understand completely how annoying it is.
At least my dog was raised with this, so she doesn't bark back to them .
Since you like her you should tell her that its bothering you. Especialy if it starts early or goes late. If the daughter is a jerk about it then you can feel ok about calling the cops.
You are a tactful person. I'm sure you can figure out how to say it without hurt feelings.
Has anyone in the neighborhood actually spoken to the daughter about her dogs barking all day long and disrupting the peace and quiet? That's where I'd start if it hasn't been done already. If people have talked to her and she hasn't taken any action, then it's time for several of you to start making phone calls. It will be much more effective if it's more than just one neighbor reporting them.
Years ago, we had a new neighbor move in next-door. He came with about six or seven Bichon Frises and three Old English Sheepdogs. He worked midnights and had a doggy door, so the dogs spent all night outside, barking. I finally asked the neighbor if he was aware that his dogs barked all night long, and he said he had no idea. He also told us that he had sort of been asked to leave his previous suburban neighborhood because of his dogs being such a nuisance! He said he figured moving to the country, no one would be bothered. Our houses are about 150 feet apart, but I could still hear the dogs loud and clear.
The great thing was that this neighbor did something about it. After we talked to him, he kept the dogs in at night. Problem solved. I know we were very lucky. Most situations like this are not resolved that easily.

Grr. Grr....
Thanks for listening. Feel much better! lol
Jessica:
take your dog out, and have someone video their dogs barking.
Then call the Police and show them that video - repeat this action until something gets done.

Not sure how it works there, but here we can call the cops for noise disturbances. Wether it's a dog or people.
It might seem trivial....but are the dogs lunging around on their lines? If they are, I would explain that you are fearful that they may get loose and escape and you're worried about your own and your dogs safety.
I feel your pain. We had neighbors nearby who did the same thing. They had two dogs and kept them outside barking over practically every weekend. Took all the fun out of sitting on the patio on a Sunday morning, reading the paper and enjoying a tea. Fortunately, they moved so problem solved.
We thought about calling the police with a noise complaint but I just hate the thought of that. They have more important things to do and it labels me as a crotchety neighbor.
