ok, Pisa just peed her crate, (she had been outside to go several times this morning, last time 2 hrs before accident)
I took her out right away, she peed a bit, went in for a bath, put her in x pen right after bath, she peed again almost instantaly, 15 seconds, took her out side, she peed three times in the half hour we were outside ( she is her over actively normal self)
5 weeks ago she had a slight urinary tract infection, got antibiotics from vet (after urine analsasis), took for two weeks, re checked urine and got the all clear, this was 3 weeks ago, now today, no warning, slept through night normal..
the only variable is this morning, I was cutting her nails, and got to close on a dew claw, some blood so I used a styptic powder, waited a few minutes and wiped off the extra.
ok now I just took her out again while typing, and she is straining for a few drops and pooped for the third time today (never more than twice before evening)
I,m kinda scared , will be going to vet first thing tomorrow
could it be the nail powder ????

the styptic powder ingredents are..
ferrie subsulfate, diatomaceous earth, ottasept extra, aluminum chloride, bentinite, copper sulfate, ammonium chloride, biopal VRO-20, sytoid
I don't think hardley any was even left on her,

It sounds like her UTI is back.
Perhaps you could telephone your veterinarian. They could refill your prescription, some pharmacy must be open even on Easter Sunday. Try to collect a bit of urine in a clean glass jar, cap and refrigerate - they may wish to culture a sample before beginning antibiotics.
I don't think I would worry about the styptic powder.

I wouldn't worry about the powder either, I use it all the time. I think that a UTI, in a dog that just recently had one, is VERY likely. Do as Betty says!

thank you for replying, that makes me feel better, I called the vet and they are open at 8 tomorrow, and I do have a specimin jar for getting a sample
the vet wants first thing in the morning sample
I am wondering why after two weeks of antibiotics and a clean test, why would it come back, and so sudden?
both of my mastiffs got UTI as puppies aswell, could it be some weird soil thing around the farm?
we also had some cats (litter from a stray) get utirin infections and had to get hystorectomies, and now live in the basement (they had to come inside to heal)

Do your dogs swim someplace? Do they have a creek that they wade into? I think your pup has bacteria growing in her bladder, where the urine is stored. It's actually a hard place to treat an infection because the pee dilutes the antibiotic, washes it away. Sometimes it takes a few courses of different medicines to knock it out completely.
Sounds like maybe the cats had a uterine infection, an infection in the womb. That
happens quite often in cats, and is a reason why most house cats, or cats people care about, are fixed. Adult female cats are either in heat, nursing kittens, pregnant, or developing a womb infection. It just seems to be how they are. Nature has them designed to be certain they keep up with the mice, I guess!

no the dogs don,t swim, but we are going through our spring melt, and it is wet most places.
After each walk when Pisa gets wet, she is toweled off (she loves it, one huge bite rag) she has gotten wet enough to look like she was bathed half way down, but no wading in water, just splash up, same with the mastiffs, towel off their legs and bellies.
I will talk to my vet about the bladder issue.
I am talking her out every 45 min or if she whines, and she pees a bit, walks around then strains for a few more drops.
She is getting all the water she wants each trip out, and is drinking a bit more than normal

and the cats, yes it was uterine, I just spelled wrong, we actually also fixed the stray, and she lives with my parents and has tottaly adapted to being a pampered house cat, and all our house cats are fixed and have had no problems in 16 years, with them,

It sounds like an infection in the bladder is what she has, it makes the urine burn, that makes her feel like she has to pee again, and again.
Pisa is not old enough to be coming into heat, is she? Some young female dogs come into heat in the spring of the year. A young female coming into heat might forget her house training and urinate frequently.

I,m curious about the swimming question, should I avoid wet areas for a while,
my poor little girl, I'll sleep on the couch beside her tonight
