I'm wondering about this, could a person asses working stamina based on sleeping habits
Pisa has two or three naps a day, usually an hour, and sometimes up to 1.5hr for one or two, and she dosent sleep the whole night, I can hear her chewing during night, and early morning.
I talked to her breeder and was not suprised about it, asked me about crate behaviour(she is great, quiet and polite), does she always have something to chew(yes, most of the time a couple things)
now my mastiffs were mabey awake a total of 4 hours a day as puppies, and even now as adults sleep lots.
Will Rambeau claims that his dog Fetz doesn't sleep at all
I'm not sure of the exact answer to your question, but I can tell you that my current dog sleeps way less than my old dogs did. The weimaraners were probably nuttier in their waking hours, but would settle down and snooze if they got some exercise.
This one would pace around most of the day if I let her.
Danke at age three will rest quietly for many hours a day.
She rarely "sleeps", however. She's just a noise away from jumping up and investigating.
I think it says more about their personality than their stamina.
Stamina is related to physical attributes. What sort of muscle tone does the dog have? Is the chest built correctly to allow good expansion of the lungs? Is the structure correct to allow efficient movement? Is the dog at the correct weight? These control stamina. A dog with a lot of "heart" can still be tired out pretty quickly if it cannot breath correctly and gets winded easily.
