Being what gas prices our we had to down size to a Hyundai accent for our car. I'm going to be picking my pup up by my self because of the limited space in our car.
I can weld one up. I don't have a issue with hauling a trailer as I have a CDL. I am however worried about the dogs welfare.
We've had other dogs in kennels in the backs of trucks and they've been totally fine. So maybe it won't be a big deal.
The other option was for me to weld up a small trailer hitch platform for a kennel that I can weld together and put the dog in that. Yeah I'd leave vent holes and lots of reflectors. Just another idea.
Sigh .... I gotta figure something out here! I knew this was going to be a little bit of a issue but I figure we will figure it out when the time comes. That or I have a malinois for a lap dog in the front seat of our car for a 260 mile ride!
With grown up dogs, who are well established in their routines, environment, etc.
Not with a puppy being taken out of it's home for the first time to travel 260 miles on the highway.
Rent a bigger car, or look into getting him shipped. Something you weld together yourself is not going to be safe. Think about how loud and unsettling it would be for that pup. Would you like to ride in there?
car seats can't leave my kids home haha . While he's a pup I don't mind a lap dog. It's just I don't want him to get the idea it's ok to sit on everyone.
why not pull out back seat(probably only four bolts), put in a crate(bolted down in the seat bolt holes)
and make the trip solo, less stress without kids, and quieter ride for puppy,
plus you get to start the bond while being able to focus 100% on the pup

Edit reason: spelling
forgot to add, when we got the mastiffs, a 1200km drive was a long day there and two and a half days back, puppies are a chalange on the road, keep it unstressful for your pup, or your next few trips will be hard on him and worse for you...JMO
