Nick,
No worries. Didnt even think abou the food. I know I was on my way inside to
get a bag for you and then we started talking again. I'm surprised that you guys
don't have a farm store to go to by you. Almost every farm store carries it. The
food is Diamond Naturals Lamb and rice lg breed puppy. I am not sure what
wellness requires as far as feeding, but all feeding charts have a range for the
amount of food they should get in a day. I normally feed the pups on the upper
part of that range. We were giving him 3 cups a day. Don't worry about growth he
will grow like a weed. Now that he is home with you. I would expect him to put
on about 10lbs in the next two weeks if not more. If you saw loose stool now it
would be due to he food change and possibly the environment change. Sometimes it
just helps to pull them off food for 24hrs and then ease them back into their
food. If that doesn't work then I would at least take him in the get a stool
sample done.

The key part of this bland dish is the rice. The chicken is to flavor it enough for the dog to eat.
Boil ordinary white rice like you'd make for yourself, following the package directions---EXCEPT use more water than it says to, and cook it longer. You're trying to overcook it into mush. Don't put in any salt.
Once the rice is done, add a small amount of the cooked chicken.
I have 1 boneless chicken breast defrosting in the microwave right now
Those instructions are for boiling a whole chicken.
With your piece of breast, no culinary skill required here at all, so don't worry. Your dog will love your cooking.
The chicken breast you have is fine. Put it in a pan with some water and boil it. It won't take long. You can even cut it up into small pieces while it's raw and boil it in the same water with the rice. It'll be fine.
What you're going to end up with is a thick mushy rice-flavored-with-chicken glop that will look like oatmeal or baby food. Make several cups worth and store it in the fridge. Then just feed the dog a half cup at a time as the vet instructed.
The pup will be fine. As others said, a little mushy poo isn't unexpected. This isn't an urgent medical situation.
One more thing! I have a meeting I need to be at at 11:30 is he going to poop after he eats? I don't want any surprises like a dog covered in poo and the kennel as well when I come home. YUCK
Rice is being overcooked that I can do LOL!!!
chicken is in the pot waiting for the water to boil for 10 min
Should he be taking it easy or is he to exercise today?
All the water he wants? (I cant wait till my no spill bowl shows up I've had to clean him and the kennel up from water)

Yes, all the water he wants.
Let's go easy on the exercise today. That doesn't mean you have to restrict him to his cage--just no forced marches today. How about putting the leash on him (inside and out) and walk him around the house, showing him all the rooms, closets, doors--introduce him to the new place. Then walk around outside and do the same thing. He's brand new. Let him set the pace for a day or two.
