Anyone ever see anything like this? This has been ongoing since Vigo got his bordetella shot (my mistake...long story) last Saturday.
He has experienced puppy acne and similar bumps before, but nothing this long lasting or severe. Would say he has a sensitive snout. His nose itself dries out easily around the edges (worse with furnace on, not enough moisture, better since furnace has been off). I use "Snout Soother" to help or some Vit E.
Here are some pics: (Please note the flash makes it look worse than it really is...it is bumpy but not so red)
Do you play fetch with him? This looks like what Cicero had and he had a tendency to over shoot the ball when playing fetch and drug his face on the ground/through the grass when he dropped his head to grab the ball but his body kept going. I am not sure that this is what caused it but we had a rainy period which kept us from playing fetch for a bit and it cleared up so that was my best guess.
About a week ago, he hid two treats. One in the loveseat, one in the couch...deep down behind the cushions. Since then, even though they are gone, he thinks it is the best thing on earth to dig his snout down into the couch or whatever piece of furniture any where in the house. I am talking whole head down in the crack. Maybe that is irritating his skin around his nose? Something to think about...
That might do it. I am trying to decide where the pictures I took of Cicero's nose at that time might be or whether I kept them. I was going to post them on here but before I had a chance we got the rain and it cleared up.
Vigo's looked much better this morning after a whole night of not being able to shove his nose where it doesn't belong. Will keep an eye on it over the next few days and see how it goes.
You have no idea...lol...this dog is a goof! His nose looks much better after a whole day of keeping his nose out of the couch (most of the time anyways!).
