My 2 year old intact Doberman Male has recently started growling at me when I scold him (for peeing in my sons room). Although he was never crate trained he has been obedience and behavior trained and up until now never questioned the pack ranking. I want to nip this behavior in the bud quickly by limiting his access to all areas of the house and having him sleep in the crate, but he is refusing to go in. His obtions have been limited to, getting into the crate or sleeping in the dog kennel outside, rather than on his cushy bed at the foot of our bed. By refusing to get into the crate, I have been making him sleep outside. Do I force him in the crate??
Sounds more like typical 2yr old behavior to me. Marking, testing his pack position & being a snotty brat.
If UTI is ruled out for the peeing. Then he is marking his territory. It is just dog going thru a maturity phase. There have been some recent threads on the 2 year old timeframe behavior. Use the search & they should pop up.
I've had the dog since he was 8 weeks old, I did not even consider a UT as he just walked in my room and lifted his leg on the bed, and when I scolded him he growled at me, and continued to growl all the way out to the kennel in our back yard, although he did not nip or bite. Every night since I have brought him into the house over to the crate and given the IN command, he is refusing to get in. I then lead him back out to the kennel were he has spent the last week. This is all well and good for now as the weather is nice, any assistance I can get on how to get this dog in the crate withough getting bit or causing a fight.
Thanks

And can you give us a run down of what this dog's day is like? Not to be rude, but it sounds like he is in a kennel or in a crate...what else are you doing with him?
This is sounding like much more than just marking problems or crating problems IMHO.
