Saw this this morning:
http://www.komonews.com/news/local/122396329.html
Good thing he did have his gun. I can't believe the other guy said he was never in danger when 3 out of control pitbulls were fighting with him and his dog.
I am all for allowing dogs off leash, but I think there should be harsh punishments for owners who decide to allow their dogs off leash but cannot control the dogs. And 3 dogs off leash? Is he insane? How can one man possibly handle 3 off leash dogs in a public park.

Further evidence this guy is an a**hole - his parking job at 1:40 in the video. I hate people who do that.

The APBT owner just looks like a punk, however, I have had people kick, scream, call the police(yep, at a dog park once and in my front yard once while I was playing ball with my dog...they took him to the pound where I had to go pick him up, and I received a dog at large ticket), and one guy cracked one of my APBT's over the head with a chain when my dog went over to check out his dog. Most people have no idea how to read dogs, and just assume "its a pit, its gonna kill me and my dog!" The APBT I mentioned was a therapy dog who I recently put down due to cancer, and he never showed aggression towards any person, dog, cat, bird...anything. When ignorant people saw him trottin over to them and their dog at a park, they just assumed he was coming over to kill their dog. Not saying this guy's pits are all friendly, but I would think if three pits were attacking another dog and a firearm was needed to save its life, the dog who was attacked would have a few more injuries...again, not siding with the punk owner with the attitude, but based on what I've experienced, it may not be whats being reported. I'd like to knock the piercings off that turds face either way.

first off let me say i love pitties. if i had one a dog park would be out of the question. i dont think they belong there ok to be comepletely honest, i dont think any dog belongs in a dog park i do not like them, esp for pit bulls, its just a accident waiting to happen and bad press they do not need, even if it was not the pit bulls fault they would get the blame.
i have 3 dogs and not one of them have stepped foot in a dog park

Ashley: I agree, I have three dogs and I never take them to a dog park. Part of the reason is that I can not trust other owners to know how to handle their dogs and I do not want my dogs at the mercy of someone else's dogs. Around our house people don't even keep their dogs in the yard most of the time so I would not trust them at a dog park. I also think that things can happen beyond our control. I always want control of my dogs, and off leash far away from me anything could happen. If they were attacked, they could receive injuries before I could even get to them. So, I elect not to go to dog parks.
I understand what people are saying, not all pit bulls are bad. but how is someone who has never met that particular dog know that? No one wants to risk their dog getting bit by someone elses dog, pit or no pit. I have had people unleash their dogs at a track where sometimes I have walked my dogs. It is posted -dogs on leash. I have had big big dogs come running toward me and my dog and it always makes my dogs uneasy. I have had to ask the owners to leash their dogs, and unfortunately few comply. I always worry about little kids getting scared of dogs or being too forward with some strange dog. We need to be cautious with our dogs and respect other peoples space. It is so horrible that a dog gets attacked by another dog...besides the wounds, you have the problem of aggression or fear of other dogs after that.
I do not know how to solve the problem though. I wish there was a good solution that people would follow.

Like not owning a dog when they have no business owning one.

I had my dogs attacked by a pitty a little over a year ago. Damn dog ran across the 3 acre sport field thru the middle of 2 kids' softball games to get at my dogs. Attacked my female while she was bringing her ball back to me. My male jumped in to help her out & they chased him off. But he came back 2X before my dogs convinced him that he needed to leave. My dogs recalled immediately but he kept coming back at them when they were right next to me. PITA. All this while the owner was running across the field...he never caught up with the dog. Told him that I was going to call the cops. He finally got the dog into his car & took off before the cops got there. No one at the game on that end of the field would give up the guys name. Fortunately my dogs have not been hurt by these attacks. But a couple of the attacking dogs have had a few things to remind them that they should not attack my dogs. Owners didn't DARE do anyting about it since it was their faults that their dogs attacked mine.
Had a pitty in my front yard today when I came home. Chased him off before he could mark anywhere. He apparently followed a woman that was walking her dog from several streets over. He wasn't attacking her dog...but mine were going nuts in the front window with this guy in the front yard. Never saw him before. Nice looking blue one, friendly too. But I still don't want him in my yard & he should't be loose.
Owners that can't control their dog really are a PITA!
My dogs have been attacked about 5 times by loose out of control dogs in the last few years. My female has become VERY dog aggressive becasue of it. As careful as I am...these dogs just come from out of nowhere. I am very vigilent when out with my dogs on the fields & these dogs still get to mine. SUCKS!
There have been alot of loose dogs that have been getting loose around here lately. Don't usually see that happen here. Don't know it the dogs are getting smarter & getting out or the owners are getting lax.
