Argggggghhhha! Oh I am so sorry. I just hate that type of incident. I almost had to say good bye to my Cody man, and have had to say good bye to other pets but only due to old age. I hate that, and I am so sorry you have to go through it. I can tell you though that animals deal with death much better than we do as humans.
I had a pup (very old) begin to die at home and before we could take her in to end her misery, the other dogs sat with her. I sat next to her and brushed her, something she loved and petted her and laid with her. (she was on a blanket in the living room) I was crying, she was extremely peaceful and at peace. I learned alot about pets then, they seem to understand their time is up and just wait for it.
I hope this helps you. I am so sorry this is happening. It is extremely painful to go through what you are going through. sharon

Oh, Mara, I ache for you.
Suddenly the day in 2001 when I made the same discovery about my Luna just overwhelmed me as I read your post.
Oh, my dear, all I can say is what Will says: She is so very fortunate to have you for her owner.
Your beloved friend will be given what so many are not: a peaceful goodbye with you right there -- not alone and not afraid. A gentle and blessed transition.
You and Missy will remain in my thoughts... I'm so very sorry, but I know she has had a wonderful life as part of your family - more than she could have ever imagined. Hang in there.
Years ago, I was told that my beloved Brandy had a heart defect and only had a couple of days left. Brandy stayed with me for 10 days, and I made it the best 10 days I could. It was hard not to cry when I was with her because I knew I would be losing her soon, but I kept the sadness from her. Those last 10 days were about HER and not me and my grief. I had Brandy for 13 years, but each minute I spent with her in that last 10 days is in my memory. I spent time with her doing the things she liked to do.. she had breathing problems, but we took things slow and she appeared to enjoy it all.
You will have lots of time to grieve. Hold her and love her while you still have her.
