Is it a good idea to use marker training and a focused heel when handling a DA dog encountering other dogs while on walk(of course corrections will be given for any signs of aggression)?
This is what I have been doing and it seems to be working relatively well. The reason why I ask is because on the "Dealing with Aggressive Dogs Video" there is no marker training or redirection when Ed is walking the black dog past 2 gated Malinois.

That video is older than the marker training videos, articles, etc., as I recall.
I certainly use marker work outside the dog's reactive zone, slowly increasing the size of his non-reactive area.
make the right easy and the wrong thing difficult. I'm still old school when i approach another dog on a walk. if he starts to act aggressive i give him something else to think about, mainly obedience exercises
I never thought in my wildest dreams that this dog was capable of walking so nicely with a crazy barking dog behind a fence only 1 foot away.
Marker training made it possible to teach my dog to focus though such distractions. I wasn't able to accomplish anything for an entire year with just corrections alone (pertaining to DA).
