Hello! my name is tiffany, I'm from Norcal. I have a beautiful cane corso who has done quite a bit in his less than 2 yrs, hes retiring now... long story but i wont be on the bench long I'm hoping to get a gsd in the near future.
Ronin has a blog http://www.canecorsoronin.wordpress.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et4l4b8F6Xg
Ive been on here a while but figured i would introduce myself!
You are surely on the right Forum for your dog, these folks really know their reactive dogs.
It's great that you have put your experience out there for others in your breed to see, perhaps this openness will lead to an improvement in breeding for temperament. In our vet practice there were no male cane corsos over 2 1/2 yrs - there was also a bad line of rotts who were all euth. around this same age for owner aggression.
I think it's tough for breeders because this problem is delayed in it's appearance, some dogs are used as stud before their problems manifest.
He will be my last corso. I thank God everyday it is no owner aggression but I am prepared for if it ever came down to it he would be put down. The problem manifests late but breeding on that same line for so long was just plain irresponsible. The breeders still call it " old world " temperment or a "hard dog" they are right he would be a hard dog for a "new world family" luckily he is with me and I protect him. I owe him that cuz i do know he would lay his life down if someone tried to hurt me. Thank you for the support I feel very welecome here. I am hoping to have a GSD here in the fall to start working and Ronin will be a gorgeous house dog
