I am rarely moved by human tragedy; I find the human race so often utterly dissapointing - vulgar, crass, opinionated, rude and deeply self centred, always so preoccupied with the inane unimportant injustices they whinge about to anyone that will listen to them, but I have just watched the live service from Oslo cathedral following the insane and inexcusable slaughter of young kids who had the audacity to belong to a political party, and feel deeply sad.

The scenes at this service were of a quiet, dignified and restrained people, paying respect to their dead; mercifully most of us will never have to experience this type of grotesque massacre, but the way the Norwegian people have conducted themselves is a lesson to us all; no hysteria, no screaming and falling to their knees, no disgraceful behaviour in front of the worlds intrusive media.

And as for Amy Whinehouse?? self inflicted, weak and uneducated ignorance, too much 'poor me'.

To report this on the back of what happened in Norway, I found distasteful to say the least, there is no comparison, and is is hardly worthy of the same reverance, she chose to destroy herself, these kids in Norway had their choices taken from them.

Tragic events in a sometime scary world. Cowardice at it's optimum.

I see that the perp is facing up to 27 years in prison for all these horrible acts.
And the prisons in Norway are rated very high in creature comforts for the inmates.

This is a case where the perp shouldn't be rehabilitated, he should be *punished* - which isn't going to happen.

Yep, if he gets the max sentence of 27 years, that will come out to less than 3 and 1/2 months of prison time per murdered victim.
