Yeah yeah I'm going to catch a ton of flack here for this. Gambit is going to be our pet dog most likely. We are looking for leads on a adult dog with high drive. If anyone knows anyone please let me know. I've been being coached on handling dogs at my club so I feel much better about taking on another malinois (separate kennels handled one at a time never together) I'm OK with puppies but as I was told adult dogs are much more forgiving.
I've asked my club members to look also. I'm serious about all this and ask that you please consider that when I first got into this sport and these dogs I knew nothing. I still have away to go but I think I've gained some ground with some mentors from my club.
Konnie Hein (La Forge Malinois) and Kadi Thingvall (Dantero Malinois) are two fantastic breeders on this board, both who produce serious high drive dogs. If I were in the market for a quality Malinut, I'd go to them.
If you pass the inspection these two gals will give you in regards to owning a puppy out of a litter they've bred, I'll wager a guess you're ready for a 'real' dog.
But yeah, you're liable to catch a lot of flack for considering another Malinois when you already have one that is still a puppy. 6 months being 'coached' on how to handle a dog is NOTHING, when you're talking about it in relation to a high drive Belgian Malinois. Especially when you add in a Mal puppy, wife and kids to the home life of a future high drive dog. Recipe for disaster, IMHO.
Yeah but I'm not looking for a puppy and who knows I may rehome gambit to the family farm to run the ground play with the animals and enjoy life. My folks need a new watch dog any ways and they love animals. Over all if I keep him or give him to them things will be fine for the pup. He's just not what I had ordered from the menu so to speak. Kids and wife stay out of this conversation as it is my duty to make sure I keep any dog away from them. My 3 year old has gone to the local schutzhund club and sits in her micky mouse chair. 15 feet away is a VERY high drive totally nuts malinois heading toward the decoy. Ignores us sitting and takes out the decoy. If that dog had come toward my little girl I would of put my self in front of her. I know the risks trust me.
Ana LOL . If I had the extra cash I know where to get a dog right now. Just requires that I fly to Antwerp Belgium. A friend of mine lives 20 minutes from a kennel.
You are a piece of work Nick Logan... This poor damn dog who has been subjected to all the hell he has been through in the past few months while you "figured it out" , and no you have not done so as of yet, isn't what YOU ordered off the menu, so to speak??? I can NOT believe you posted that and am having to bite my teeth to not say what REALLY needs to be said only because of the obscene language which it would involve. I hope to God Ed Frawley takes care of that via a PM you sorry son of a gun. I can assure you that having been given a choice, YOU would not have been one Gambit ordered either, but the poor pup doesn't have a thumb and can't do a damn thing about it. You are no more ready for a serious working dog, with high drives and the fact that you think you are only proves my point loud and clear.
Dogs are not disposable items ordered off a menu, to be screwed up by us and then tossed aside to get another better, shinier model. And if you post back that this was all a joke to get us riled up, I.ll do my very best to get you permanently banned.

So your other thread was a bunch of lies? You know the one where you need an outside run with it's own septic for a couple of hours a day, and then to isolate in order to build drive.
Frankly Nick, thread after thread of yours has been full of half truths if not down right lies. I think you thrive on the attention you get and really do not care if it is negative or positive.
Please, by all means rehome Gambit. It may be the first break he gets.
I hope to God Ed Frawley takes care of that via a PM you sorry son of a gun. And if you post back that this was all a joke to get us riled up, I.ll do my very best to get you permanently banned.
Can this be done regardless of real or a joke? It is heartbreaking for the dog and distracting nonsense from those of us that want to learn.
No the thread about the kennel wasn't lies. I havent decided what I'll do with him. He most likely if I do rehome him will go to my folks farm. you people need to calm down and stop being so dramatic. Your not getting the whole picture nor do I think some of you understand a sport dog. Maybe some do and some may also know that when a dog washes out you rehome him somewhere nice and get a better dog if he cant do the work.
End of story..
I would also like to add that I've been VERY good to the puppy. He's gotten everything that is needed and fed the very best foods. I've taken him to the E vet more than once when he was sick at 3 am. I've stayed up nights watching over him and slept by him. I've been crapped on god knows how many times. I love him but I didn't buy him for love but for work
