Last week I travelled home for 2 days and got to spend the night at home.(I've been travelling for almost 4 months now on business). My 3 month old female GSD seems to be having nightmares..
I slept on the couch and put her crate next to me (I miss her)so I could sleep by her. After a while I heared her whinning. I checked and she was sleeping, I noticed her breathing speeding up. I was just about to wake her up, when all of a sudden, she lets out a single bark. She looked scared. I gave her a hug and reassurance. I asked my brother and mother if they noticed that. They said that lately it's been happening?

Actually, they have found that most animals experience some type of dream state. The current thinking is that dreaming is the brain's way of organizing and pruning memories of the day's experiences. That theory answers one of the basic quesitions of 'Why do we need sleep?'
I've often watched Dallas and Chance lie there with paws twitching and wondered what chase was going on in those doggy minds.
Here's what my brother told me happened 2 weeks ago.
He was walking Jinny when this stray cat approaches. So Jinny was sniffing around when this cat strikes :@. First time, hits her side, 2nd time.. the cat's paw is in Jinny's mouth being dragged on the ground.
Anyways, my brother got a hell of a yelling from me on the phone (remember I'm out of the country) for being so Stupid.
Anyways next day, while walking Jinny, the same cat comes but not without her friend. So my brother picked by Jinny, while both cats came and started pawing my brother's feet.
Funny enough, Jinny was barking her head off wanting some piece of the action.
Wondering, if she's dreaming of the cats
Ed has just finished his "raising a working puppy" DVD. I'm going to put E collars and prong collars on every member of my family and make them watch it twice.
