I think I may be in Love! I found this guy about an hour away and he fits the hyper 1 year old profile for a potential sport dog! I'm going to look on Friday either way, but what is your take on his breeding? The shelter says mix, but I'm not so sure. Want to play "what's he mixed with?"
Pure bred IMO
Maybe even European lines? I wouldn't say American gsd only because of coloring.
Might get lucky and have found one of those wl pups that drove his owner crazy...oraybe he's the blessed one with you finding him. Only problem I see is of he is in a rescue organization they will force you to fix him and that could be a problem with his protection work? That's just what I've hears tho
He looks like a shepherd to me...with a more refined head and ears and a bit more leg....the leg could be because he's young, ears and face could simply be individual type or that he's mixed with something with a narrow face...if someone told me he was a purebred shepherd I'd believe them....however I think he's mixed with something a generation back or so.
he's cute though ^_^ (what the heck was the point of that video though? he just stands there...)
Stephanie, I don't know if I'll go full force with him. Maybe just learn a good bark and hold, ob and some beginner things since I am fairly new to all of this.
Yeah, the video was pretty pointless aside from getting to see his whole body and how tall he was.
Isn't he just calling to you, Michael? I love that little bit of mischief I see brewing in those eyes
Let's all pray I don't get served divorce papers over this guy (KIDDING!) But I'm going to have to do a lot of eyelash batting and meal cooking over the next 2 days Better go whip up a chocolate cake...or 2
VERY nice!! Could be pure -- if there's a mix it's not a whole lot. His head is a little smaller than a male GSD - more like what you would find on a small female like Drift.
I like the white spot on the chest - Drift has one too and I call it "the mark of the beast"
I hope you get him, and he's all you ever dreamed of in a dog!! Thank you for rescuing!!!!!
As for the divorce - With Paul I find that it's easier to ask for forgivness than for permission - once he touches the critter he's in love and stops complaining.
I think he's absolutely gorgeous, whatever his breeding may be. I would lean toward purebred GSD, but he looks more WL to me (not that I'm any kind of expert on GSDs).
His description from the shelter does not sugar-coat the fact that he is a very energetic dog that will need lots of exercise and attention from his new owner, but from your previous posts, it sounds like you're up to the task.
You do know what Diablo means in Spanish, right? Can't wait to hear how it goes Friday!
