In Aug.29 issue of The New Yorker mag. is an article about the original Rin Tin Tin.
He was found Sept.15th l918 by Leland Duncan, a soldier sent to inspect the ruins of a German encampment that had been bombed."Headquarters for working dogs". "A dozen dogs, killed by artillery shells. But hiding nearby was a starving, frantic German Shepherd female and a litter of five puppies".
The article goes on to describe the dog's role in the making of Warner Bros. A lot about the dog himself. "Rinty, a rambunctious, bossy dog.....his coat was lustrous and dark, nearly black, with gold marbling on the legs and chin and chest..he wasn't overly tall or broad..but powerful and nimble, and light on his feet...his expression was pitying and generous and a little sorrowful..."
The owner is described as "spending all of his time with his dog".
In the photos, the dog looks a little bigger than Ryuk .
Thor's claim to fame; he is descended from Rin Tin Tin....not sure which one but perhaps if I had seen this video before bringing home the little fur ball; I would have been prepared for the "madness"
Everything I've read about the original Rin Tin Tin was how he had a bad habit of biting many of his "co stars".
Those claiming to be "descended from" will go back to the TV Rinty, not the original movie dog.
