We're doing pretty well here....we no longer have a driveway, it washed away and what's still there resembles clusters of mini canyons. Two of our cars and huddling together on an island (mine's one of those) third is a half tire deep in water but there isn't really any way to move it at the moment, not really sure how we're going to get any of the cars out even after the storm, the driveway's washed away around them, we'll have to build them a bridge later on to get them off of their plateaus....a good chunk of the yard is flooded but we're on a hill so everything's running away from the house. I've seen a few of the younger trees go down but only in the woods and there's a good amount of distance between the house and forest on each side so nothing has even come close to hitting anything. The tree that could to the most damage is a huuuuge deep rooted older one that doesn't even seem to register that there is wind, so we're pretty confident it will hold. We have a lovely bubbling brook that's moved in behind the house too....
We still have power and internet (obviously) which is nice, had a few surges but everything is on surge protectors and batteries so we're staying connected and entertained We also stocked up on the chocolate and junk food so it's quite nice here lol
Windy and wet with some flooding, but so far not nearly as bad as expected. We're the only New England state with no coastline so we won't get the full effect. Staying in and watching movies.
In So West CT....Lots of flooding in some areas, especially the beach or river areas. Lots of trees & power lines down. Winds in the 60s + 70s & not 90 like anticipated. Rain levels,in most areas, below the anticipated 10+ inches.
One of the few times that we've had any major event that I didn't get my 'finished' lower level totally flooded out. Yipee!! 3 back fence posts snapped & 2 fence sections came down, but that is the only damage. Still having alot of wind tonight & hoping that all stays well.
Had main generator & a back up one, ready to go & enough fuel to run them for a week or 2, but never lost power. No trees fell on the house or trucks, no sump pumps failed, driveway drain didn't overflow & back yard is only partly flooded. Dogs & cat safe. I did ok this time around.
I just watched footage of a beautiful, old covered bridge being washed away in Quechee
South Burlington got lucky, but right near us Waterbury and Huntington are under water.
So much of our teeny state is covered in flood water. It's weird that as resilient as we are to severe winter weather, we should succumb so quickly to a tropical storm.
Hurricane? What hurricane? We had periods of some wind, periods of some rain. But not a hurricane. Not much of a storm at all, certainly not worth all the hype on tv.
... At least around here...
