Just got back from taking my now 3 year old WGS Luna on her
first walk in over 4 months. Since I broke my leg I have
really been wearing the Guilty montra as far as her getting enough exercise, and being apprehensive about the "what ifs"
you know what if I fell, what if a strange dog comes over. Well
I mustered up the courgage and thank goodness I tought her the
command "Gentle" when she was a youngster because in order to get
to the road and pasture you have to go down a steep walkway with
steps and I'm not great with stairs yet. Luna remembered that
Gentle meant slow, no pulling and watch out for mom. She did
beautifully and even though we didn't walk as far as we used
to we managed a half hour walk and she is peacefully sleeping
next to me on the floor. Who knew that the command Gentle would
come in so handy many years after it was taught.
