I am ready to buy a new vacuum, and we are so frustrated with ones we have had that I want to find out if anyone has come across one that actually lasts(suction) and can hold up to frequent regular vacuuming, and dog hair! I have seen dysons out there but wonder if they hold up long term like they say. ???? Thanks!!!
I've had a dyson for 5 years. No need to buy the "pet"one, the attachments don't do much IMO. I vacuum almost every day.
They are very loud and pretty heavy. Easy to switch from carpet to the hand held part for spider webs etc.
I have wood floor, linoleum, and some carpet.
I'm told there are cheaper ones just as good.
I'll never have a vacuum with a bag again.
We are all one floor. Mostly wood, tile, and area rugs. SOme carpet left but it is being removed as soon as we can get the time to put down more hardwood. I can't wait, since my allergies improved greatly just with what was removed already. SO I don't have to carry it up and down steps which is a big plus. I felt the same way about pet attachments on things I have looked at. We don't allow dogs on the furniture, but I do vacuum dog beds before washing.
For a good price on a Dyson, sign up for a Kohls credit card. Then Kohls will send you coupons several times throughout the year good for 15-30% off anything in the store. If you combine it with an ongoing sale, you can really get a good price.
The other option I'd go with is a Bissell pet model. Under $200 and the one we have is 2-3 years old now, used lots and still going strong. It's a canister vac, too so no dealing with bags.
I think one thing to find out about the vacuum is where the exhaust outlet is, if it's low or in front it blows all the hair around. Mine is on the side and filtered but still blows a little around so ok but not great.
I have a Bissell cleanview II bagless and I like the concept of bagless but when you need to empty & clean it you need another vacuum to do that job or your covered in dust.
Also pet attachment is weak.
I love my Eureka AirSpeed Gold. It's motto is "Better than a Dyson at 1/3 of the price" Sorry Dyson lovers, but it says it right on the Vacuum We vacuum at least once a day- 3 kids 3 dogs and farm dirt. It's held up beautifully and even made my tired old rugs feel new again. I would buy another in a heartbeat. Not too heavy, great on hardwood and tile as well.
