Well, this weekend Dieks is visiting a potential home! / It isn't a working home, but a home where he would be a single man's everything. This guy is looking for a rambunctious exercise partner/best friend to revolve his life around. He has his ducks in a row and after several lengthy conversations, it really sounds like a match. If the home check works out, Dieks will be leaving this weekend. It is very bittersweet for me. Glad he will now be getting all of the attention and training he needs without someone rushing around like a crazy lady 20 hours a day, but very sad to see this amazing pup leave. Trying to focus on the positives of again being able to provide the type of home and time the other 3 deserve and Dieks's needs being better served.
I seriously thought about keeping up the madness forever, even though the whole family was suffering from "Mom's" schedule. I sent up a quick prayer for guideance and an hour later checked my e-mail and there was his Dieks Application. Didn't take it as a sign until I had talked with him a few times. Now I'm fairly sure these two were made for each other. Crossed fingers and paws for a great home check are appreciated
Amy, I hope all goes well and they are the perfect match.
While he may not have any plans for Dieks other than being a buddy, when he sees the potential in him, he may change his mind. I NEVER would have thought that I wanted to train or compete with my dogs until Toni came into my life. Now I do Rally, Agility, Flyball, Mondio, Dock Diving, and Therapy work with the dogs.
Let him know what Dieks is capable of, and it may open up a whole new world for him.
Amy;
That is exactly how I got Sadie!!! I had lost a beloved dog a year earlier, my son left home (single parent), and the nest was feeling incredibly empty. It HAS INDEED turned out to be a match made in heaven. I truly believe, as long as this guy is who he says he is, that this is ordained.
When I answered the ad for Sadie, I knew I wanted a German Shepherd (had for years), but I had no clue what a GSD or PPD was. I had never heard of Schutzhund. Sadie not only has become the center of my world, but she has expanded my horizons, up to and including a whole new community and group of friends. Diek's new person will hopefully allow some of the same doors to be opened for him.
Prayers and best wishes for all of you.
Will keep fingers and paws crossed for you both, though I can only imagine how your heavy your heart is
You are doing the only thing you can with your circumstances as they are, I take my hat off to you for putting your beloved Dieks and HIS needs before your dearest wishes to keep all the balls in the air, as you said before, it's a bitter sweet time, I am thinking of you.
