She came into the shelter as a stray the owners were contacted and when they found out she had been hit by a car they decided not to reclaim her what do you think she is or is she just a mutt.
Going purely by color and pointy ears....dutch shepherd, and since they seem to have a sort of open studbook the shapes to vary enough for her to be one....she's cute
she doesn't have that short back many akitas and akita mixes have though....I can see some akita in the headshape in the front but from the side the stop is way to shallow...
very pretty dog though, what's she like tempermentaly? Akitas tend to be a bit aloof and quiet....
she is quiet but friendly when she see's me she stands up at the door of her kennel and waits patiently for her turn to go outside. when someone tries to pet her she moves closer to receive it and she ignores other dogs.
I'd say Akita mix. The hair coat, head shape, and tail just say Akita to me. I don't see DS. I think the side profile of her face may be a bit of an illusion, I bet she's got a pretty heave stop.
Contact breed rescues! I personally don't know of any Akita rescues, but you could try contacting North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue, and see what they think of her. They've got tons of experience with DS's, and identifying mixes.
