I've been trying to encourage my camera to work again, and it actually gave me a little over a minute of recording today before the battery light flashed.
Anyway, we've been working on constant eye contact during heeling, which apparently we need for our BH....though I've heard more recently eye contact isn't required, just attention is needed?
so, kibble rewards (I know, but i didn't feel like looking for the good treats), our distraction was two wild turkeys Ryuk would like you to know where mocking him during the entire thing. Overall he did okay, sorry about the sound, the camera clicks terribly and it was a little windy....
It's true that you don't need eye contact heeling for ScH, the dog simply has to heel correctly. I'm definitely no ScH expert, but I believe that some judges may give higher marks for "flashier" obed, which is where the prancing eye-contact heel comes in.
Fantastic Jamie! Although,.... I wanted to see him chase the Turkeys
Eye contact is... well, highly encouraged. I've never seen a dog not giving eye contact get a decent score in OB. It is possible to pass? Maybe. The BH is so individual to the judge. You saw our video. Our heeling SUCKED, and we passed. You're ready for the B, I betcha.
