ACD has GOT to be my next dog... Unfortunately I have come to my dog limit so I will have to wait years probably. Not only have I seen that ACD's are smart but they are so perfect size and everything. Of course I would not want a little monster like Will got I don't need anything that strong...
Today I went to the house of an old friend (landlord of my parents first house when they were just married). I went last Sunday too but no one was home, same as today. However their dog, an ACD, was there. Sunday he was there and I went up to the house to knock, he did not bark or anything just came up and looked me over. Today he came up and leaned against me. I pet him a little not wanting to test my limits with a dog I didn't know. But when I stopped petting him he put one paw on my leg, real carefully. So I pet him a little more and when I stopped he put both paws on me but low, around my knees. So I pet him some more and so on till I was practically holding him in my arms. I think he is just really lonely. What a beautiful dog... Such a sweetheart. (I saw this dog 2 years ago when we were last here but had not near the knowledge of dogs than, that was before I found LB)
Just wanted to share.

Aww, he sounds adorable.
My dream dog is actually a whole list of dogs that are probably way too much dog for me anyway. But, it we're just dreaming then:
Beauceron (got to be the most ruggedly beautiful breed ever),
another GSD (black and tan male (I've already named him...lol),
I miss my WL Sheltie (I know, I know, a WL sheltie? she actually earned a paycheck at the local livestock auction - a good honest hard working girl)
and I have a soft spot for of all things, toy poodles and Yorkies. *shrug* we all have to have our bad points. lol

Dream Dog : Though when assessing my next dog, color will be my last consideration. I really want a slightly fluffy male GSD. Preferably 9-36 months old, breeder return (like my Haz ) Saddle or Blanket back with some basic house manners (Hey, a girl can dream lol!) Sport potential if not already started.
I'd also really like a Bouvier Des Flanders, a Neopolitan Mastiff and a Pom when I'm 90 or so and can no longer handle the big dogs

I want a dog that will track for days on end. Don't care what breed.
When the time comes, I will make a blood trail in the woods near the shelter. Whoever shows the interest that I want to see gets to come home.

That should be interesting!

I'd love the opportunity to start a DS from a pup. Koenig is so close to my ideal dog, that I can't say I'll ever own anything but a Dutch. Perfect world, where I could own as many dogs as I want, and be able to provide for all of them exactly what they need? My list is long.... ugh.
The top three would have to be these guys.
Dutch Shepherd
Malinois
Newfoundland

As soon as I have the time and space - a female malinois.
As soon as I own my own home - either a Staffordshire Bull Terrier or an American Pit Bull Terrier from a breeder that focuses on temperament and workability. I love that a 'true' pit bull is so family focused but is the very definition of Terrier.
Possibly a Jack Russell, since they're pits in tiny bodies! Better for getting under the barn and killing those rats that are chewing up my feed buckets.
I'd also love to have a Wheaton, but am afraid of their allergy issues, among other things.
Can you tell I love terriers? They're almost as obnoxious as I am

I really want a Malinois.....however I have to admit, if Ingrid's Frost is bred again....I want one of those ACD puppies.....seriously TWO MONTHS is stopping me from trying to become an approved home for Ready.....In two months I'll be out of school....I'll have time for a puppy and time to work enough hours to afford one....
I'd like something AKC registered for my next dog, in a perfect world a female but I'm honestly not that hung up on that. I'd like to show in AKC events without having my dog fixed (companion dog only) as a requirement. I want to try out "real" dog showing as well as start a puppy from 8 weeks in schutzhund....Ryuk's at the perfect age to bring in a puppy too (Old enough to not "unlearn" everything, young enough not to be tormented by puppy antics)

I've gotta say that I just love my new ACD from Ingrid, he reminds me of Fetz so much that it's scary!
