Has anyone come across this problem?
If I am not carefull and let my dogs excitement get out of control while he is on the lead and rarely pulling hard he can sometimes collasp for a couple of seconds, this has heppened I think four times. Yesterday I was at schutzhund training the trainer was carrying trainig food which my dog wanted no matter what,he was pulling hard I was pulling next thing I know my dog has passed out for maybe 3 seconds,,this time it happened when he was on a 1 inch leather collar ,has also happened on a fur saver.
For got to say have had at vets clinic where it also happened the vet ruled out epllepsey . I had xrays done of spine,neck ,hips all good.
The vet said worst senario staggers/wobblers disease.

Does your dog have noisy respiration at rest? Does he struggle when it is hot?
I would be thinking about a collapsed windpipe (trachea) but also perhaps an overlong soft pallet, something blocking his airway.
I would stop doing whatever it is that is causing this, get a different collar, or a harness,maybe a pinch collar.
This can become something they do, like getting high,it releases endorphins, but can cause brain damage. The dog that wakes up may not be the dog that collapsed if it keeps up.
Stop enabling this today, and search for a cause other than the collar if it persists with new equipment.

Get the dog to the vet!

At rest respiration normal. In the heat I would say he struggles no more than my old rotty.
When I put him on harness for exercise,bike/ walk at steady pace no problems ,I certainly don't force him to run ,no problem with breething but certainly he is panting, at this stage I start to walk.

I don't know if this is relevant, but years ago I had a Gt. Dane that would have what I thought were fainting spells of some sort when he got nervous or excited. The vets ruled out wobbler's, etc. Turns out, he had dilated cardiomyopathy.
Has his heart been checked?
