I don't know specificly about the B, but there are several temperament and training tests that are not considered final until the dog reachs maturity. The reason is that the dog can undergo a "temperament" change as they mature. As the dog ages it can become more defensive and aggressive and can render the earilier tests invalid. This type of age restriction is also typical with tests for therapy dogs.
If you can't be a Good Example, then You'll just have to Serve as a Horrible Warning. Catherine Aird.
Speaking of the B . . . I ordered Ed's video on training for the B as a present for the dh. Who has seen it? I'm guessing it's using USA rules? How current?
He thinks he'll like the video better than the rule book . . .
I was told by several Europeans that the increase in all the age requirements was an attempt to defuse the rush to slap titles on dogs too quickly, ruining the dog in the process.
I am inclined to be for this change of rules. What do you all think about it?
A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down. - Robert Benchley
In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. - Edward Hoagland
The BH was changed to 15 months. It gives you -3- more months to get ready for the SchHI.(everyone should get better scores) This is new to me but I see no problem with the change.
Then maybe if I was just putting Titles on young dogs to sell I would fell differently.

Yes...it's very good and usefull for new handlers. It shows you exactly what is expected so as to not lose points on technicalities. It's a handler training video. Make sure you have the rulebook too though.

It seems to me a good idea for us to wait untill our dogs are older ,and i for one am going to enjoy the extra time training and proofing . There is always enough work to do with not enough time ,this should befit the dogs, and us in the long run. Peter
