11 month old intact female, smooth coat. She'll eventually be my parents dog, but she's staying with me till at least Wednesday to learn some manners.
What was I thinking?? My 2 dogs, my 2 kids, and I added a 120lb Saint puppy? Ack!!!! She's a good girl so far, but it'll be an interesting couple of days. Now, I've just got to remember how to train a dog that isn't a Dutchie.
(and yes, I'm bringing her to SchH tomorrow, just because my club will get a kick out of her. )

I love the Saints......... My parents bred them when I was growing up.
At one time we also ended up with a miniature poodle. I think a few people ended up driving off the road staring at me when I had both of them on leashes taking them for a walk.
I grew up with Newfoundlands. Awesome. I love the giant breeds. Luckily this girl is relatively dry mouthed, so far!
I think I'd stop and take pictures if I saw you walking a Saint and a miniature poodle. The only dog that you could add to make that picture any more bizarre might be some thin sighthound. Greyhound, or whippet. + a Saint + a tiny Poo. Hahhahaha!!!
We took the big girl for a walk tonight with our dogs- she did very well! Koenig thinks it's cool I let him be loose (ecollar) and the NEW dog had to heel. lol.
Congratulations on the new family member, Kelly. You're a good daughter to help out with her training in the manners department. How did they acquire her? Was she a rescue or a rehome?
I couldn't help thinking of you when I read this story today:
I got 'Sophie' from my work!!! A client brought in a 10 month old Smooth Coat Saint last month to be groomed, and shaved down.... .... Super sad to do that... but it's what we're paid to do.
She contacted Woofers on Friday morning, saying that her husband was deploying, she had an infant and a 2yr old at home, and the dog was just TOO MUCH. I don't blame her for thinking that, I guess. A giant breed puppy with no obedience training is a lot to handle. Sophie (as I've named her- she was previously called Chunky. Terrible) was kept outside for the last 'few days' according to her previous owner. I kinda doubt a few days is accurate. She was FILTHY. I got the previous owner to meet me at the shop I work at, and I literally threw her straight into the tub! Dirty girl.
She's fit right into my house. Rolls over for tummy rubs, perfect foot warmer. We like her. If I lived in a house, I'm not sure I'd give her up to my parents!!! We're over out 'pet limit' as it is though, so no Saint for us right now.
Kylie and Logan love her, and true to her breed, she's excellent with them so far. We're treating her like a new pup (which she is) with tethering, and going outside waaayyyy too often. As of right now, she won't potty on a leash, so I long-line her, and just let her wander. Considering she barley knows me, she's very responsive to both my body language and my voice. Love the little beast!
I'll get pictures on photo bucket. For those of you that are my friend on FB, you've already seen her.
