We got Lusi with the intention of training her as a working "carriage dog" to run at the axle of a carriage. While we are concentrating on our basic obedience training and socializing with other dogs, horses and people, we have discovered that Lusi enjoys almost any task!
She's a very pretty pup! Looks like she's willing and eager to do anything you ask of her, and she's giving you nice attention. I'm sure she'll be great at anything you decide to do with her.

Sorry for the delay in replying- I only just discovered your reply...still finding my way round the forum!
Lusi is a lovely dog and we are really delighted with her. She has an exceptionally wonderful temperament and is doing really well in her puppy obedience/agility class.
The reason for choosing the breed was because about three years ago I took up carriage driving- I have a Morgan that I show in pleasure and combined driving and from there it was a natural progression to really want to have a dog that would come out with us.
The last words from the breeder were, "she's going to make a very sturdy girl" which is what we were looking for. She does need and get lots of exercise. Fortunately we have had German Short-haired Pointers (lovely dogs!) in the past and so the level of exercise was not a surprise to us. What has been a surprise was how fast she grew!!!
Thanks Ramachandran!
I love making the videos. I learned from videoing my riding/driving lessons that you could really learn a lot from watching videos, whether these are ones that are made professionally or those that you make yourself on location.
It's also really nice to be able to go through the footage and see the difference in Lusi in only three months! It is more than fifteen years since we have had a large breed dog in our home as a puppy- so we had forgotten just how fast the pups grow and develop. Fortunately I had remembered from my GSP days that you have to start training right away and never miss a day!
Lisabet, I neglected to say welcome to the board in my first post! I hope we'll be hearing all about Lusi's progress. And, of course, you will find a lot of help here for any issues that come up with training, behavior, health, nutrition, and the whole gamut.
I love Morgans! That was my first breed. I still miss one beautiful bay mare, in particular. When my husband and I met, I had Morgans, he had Arabs. Somehow, we then ended up with Quarter Horses. Go figure. There are quite a number of horse people on this board.

A working Dal is a nice sight, haven't seen one working in it's traditional role since I was a kid, carriage dogs in Europe.
Great to hear it's not all about "Disney."
Thanks so much Cher. I am really looking forward to being part of this group.
I think our lives are too short as far as having the opportunity to own different breeds whether they are dogs or horses! Much as we adore one breed it is always so tempting to "try" another. In part this may be because of how attached we become to a particular animal that makes it difficult to replace in our affections!
I have to admit though that having Lusi makes me feel as though I am reliving my twenties all over again, such is the similarity between the Dal and GSP in so many of their traits. We had GSPs when we were first married and now we are retired we have come almost full circle to a Dal!
I am certainly looking forward to exchanging info with all the horse folk out there!
I am also really interested in learning to track and have just joined a tracking club locally. What I have figured out with Lusi so far is that it's not just about the physical exercise but that she also needs a lot of mental exercise too.
