The Face of Dogfighting One Dog's Incredible Journey. Stallone -What a shining example he is of the breeds loyalty to humans. This dog has been betrayed by humans, but all he wants is love...still. Stop the effort in breed banning and let's get the politicians to make these jokers do more than 24 months for their atrocities. Graphic but needs to be seen-

It's hard, but if you can watch to the end, this is the real face of dogfighting.
Rest in peace, Stallone, you poor dog .... like so many .....
Warning: His facial injuries are shown in full near the end.

It always blows my mind that dogs can have such a sweet nature after being exposed to that kind of abuse. It had to hurt to be touched and carried around with those injuries. The tale wagging kills me.
I don't understand the pitiful sentence of 24 months. It takes a sick individual to allow that kind of suffering.

R.I.P. Stallone.
But do I believe "his wounds were too extensive" and "we lost him"? Absolutely NOT! Had this dog been in the care of someone other than HSUS, he would probably be alive today. Remember, these were the folks that wanted to nuke ALL the Vick dogs, some of which are now therapy dogs. They have probably raked in millions from this heart-jerker passion play, little to none of which has truly benefited animals. Great that there was a bust and somebody got a pittance of prison time, but to fall into the hands of HSUS is just as much of a death sentence as the fighting ring.

I do believe it.
But I understand exactly what you are saying. I'm not arguing at all. I know there are people in animal rights groups groups who have tragically lost their way, IMO. PETA is definitely a prime example for me. Some members and arms of other groups, including the HS, too.
But I volunteer at a shelter that has housed for rehab and adoption many dogs seized in HSUS (and other) dogfighting raids, after their vet care.
We have a club member whose dog was a bait dog, seized in a HS raid.
I don't want to go into the details of the dog's injuries.
sigh
This crux of the matter is so sad -- it's heartbreakingly sad:
"In its response to critics, HSUS is essentially saying that the killing of these dogs should continue because there are fates worse than death. And, sadly, too many people who should know better have adopted this point of view, even though it is patently false on its face; and is more so because it incorrectly assumes there are only two choices available: killing at the pound or killing at the hands of dog fighters. Working hard to end the scourge of dog fighting - and to punish the abusers - is not mutually exclusive with saving the lives of the innocent victims. In fact, the moral imperative to do one goes hand in hand with the other ..... And so we come back to the first and primary principle of the humane movement: Animal shelters are supposed to be the safety net for animals, not an extension of the neglect and abuse they face elsewhere. Just as there are other service agencies which also deal with human irresponsibility, shelters - like the other agencies - should not use that as an excuse to negate their own responsibility for failing to put in place necessary programs and services to respond humanely, and therefore, appropriately."

The 24 months kills me too.
At least we are finally starting to see actual jail time.

RIP Stallone.
You deserved so much better then you received. We, as humans, & your superior beings, seriously failed you.
Jail time of 24 months is a joke. Especially when they will most likely be released in 6 months or less due to the overcrowding of jails today.
Very sad.
