I have a quick question, my dog got a UTI this weekend (she seems to be getting better now) but I still wanted to take her to the vet to make sure it clears up. Well I called and they require me to have 4 more vaccines just in order to treat her.
What do yall think- is that ok? is that normal protocol? I dont like giving vaccines myself and furthermore, Im pretty sure she has a compromised immune system already. (shes very allergic, and struggles with yeast infections)

NO WAY!
Find another vet. That is ridiculous. I would NEVER vaccinate a sick dog, much less one with immune problems!
Neither would I. In fact, neither would the vax manufacturers: the vax package inserts are clear that vax are for healthy animals.
And QUOTE: Vaccines are intended for use in healthy animals only. Sick dogs are at increased risk of drug reaction, including anaphylactic shock and death. At best, your dog may not receive the full protection intended if he receives the vaccination while ill. This may leave your dog vulnerable to diseases such as rabies and canine distemper, without you even knowing it. END from http://www.vetinfo.com/vaccination-sick-dogs.html#b (as well as every vet manual and the inserts to the vax packaging).
I'd probably be reporting the vet to the state board. Not every owner is going to know to question this kind of dangerous sales tactic.
