Apparently our RCMP spotted this dog (thought it was a bear) on a border pond but couldn't do anything because he was in American waters. They contacted the US border patrol who sent two of their finest.

Look at how happy that dog is, at about 1 minute. He is going to help all he can, frozen and exhausted and all ..... paws up on the gunwale, body kind of shooting surface-ward .....
I guess this just happened yesterday, haven't heard how long he was in there only that he was really cold and seems to be doing okay.
And maybe it's just me but this guy looks pretty old. Not sure what breed he is but he kind of looks like a white version of Edward (Landseer Newfoundland) in his later years. The wonderful, silly breed just loves water, any time of year.

This is what I thought! Dogs always amaze me in the way that so many are trusting of strange humans when being rescued from a scary situation...like they understand a partnership instinctfully. Maybe I'm humanizing...
Wow, those two men sure did a great job, and you just know that dog had to be so relieved that he was going to get to shore.
I picture him getting home and curled in front of the warm fireplace, snuggled up for his nap, after a nice meal of course.
Makes me wonder if the dog will have a memory of that experience?
Enough of one to stay out of the cold water in the future.
My female loves to swim in our pool, but seems to know that it is too cold to swim now.
Regardless, I love this happy ending! Thanks for posting!
