I know that this is a dog forum , but once in a while things make me feel so hopeless, I want to vent.
I am sorry, but how can I respect a culture that does this to their own people?
The argument that screwed up sh!t happens in all countries does not hold water. There is a difference between criminal behaviour and Legalized criminality.

It really is kind of baffling. After 9-11, I tried to read up and learn about the religion and cultures of the countries the terrorists came from. Well, I learned, but I can't say I understand. It doesn't make sense to me - As a female, I'm very grateful to live here and not there...
I know that this is a dog forum , but once in a while things make me feel so hopeless, I want to vent.
I have also done a lot of reading and studying of the cultures and religions of that part of the world, wanting to have a better understanding. Things like this are just beyond comprehension to me and give me little hope for the future of the human species.
As a female, I'm very grateful to live here and not there...
Even as a male I am glad to be where I am . Even if you are a male , it would suck to live in such an unjust society. After all males have mothers, sisters, daughters, female friends(not if you are in af-pak) and wives.
The reason it saddens me even more is that Afghani and Pakistani people are from the same Indus valley civilization that Indians are from. So genetically speaking we are cut from the same cloth.
Luckily, we resisted total subjugation and conversion by the Invading Arabs.
I am not kidding when I say that we were just a hair's breadth away from becoming Afghanistan or Pakistan.
