Sorry no pics yet. I just got an 8-wk old toy poodle puppy.
His name is Remington (Remi)& he's parti-black & white. He only weight 1 1/2#.
I've heard poodles are very.smart. At this point I just hope he can grow up without me stepping on him--LOL!!

Congrats! Sounds like a cutie!
Totally hear you on the trying not to break him part!
I have always been a "big dog" type of girl. So when my husband told me he wanted a small house dog, it was all I could do to keep from punching him in the neck...(J/K LOL).
So he adopted this 8 weeks old chihuahua/Pom, who was 2 lbs! I honestly thought this thing was not going to make it in a house with a 75lb husky, 100 lb Leonberger, a 55lb (high drive) German Shepherd and now a 6 month old high drive, 55lb German Shepherd!
Well the little guy has made it and is now 7 lbs! He won't get much bigger, but at least we can't lose him in blankets or a laundry pile anymore....LOL
Can't wait to see the pics!
Here is Duke Nukem (my husband named him...LOL)

Keep us updated - and don't forget pictures...LOL

I can relate to worrying about how big dogs and small dogs will get along. My mother-in-law comes to stay with us occasionally, and up until recently, she had an extra-small Bichon Frise (who has since gone to the Rainbow Bridge.) But I really worried about how it would go in our small house, with the little Bichon and two Dobermans, one of whom can be described as a bull in a china shop. Amazingly, the Dobes were very respectful of the little Bichon and also my not-so-quick-and-agile, 85-year-old mother-in-law.
Very cute picture, Melissa. Niomi, the first thing I thought of when I saw your picture of Duke was he looks like what I would imagine a baby Hobbit wolf would look like.
Deb, congratulations on your addition. We'll be waiting for the pictures!

LOL, I will pass that along to my husband...as of right now, I refer to it as his Guinea Pig, and when anyone asks how many dogs we have, I always say 4.2

My husband refers to our daughter's shih tzso as a half cat or tells people he's the size of a sewer rat. It's funny how two big dog people had a child who is definately a small dog person.

Deb, are you at the poodle forum, too?
Someone just posted an intro from TX with a new poodle named Remi....
I'm BorderKelpie there. Paige is my toy poodle.
Wow, if that's you, it really is a small world!
PS, they are extremly smart and active. I started tracking training with mine since I was tracking my GSD and the poodle is easier than the GSD. Paige also seems to be a natural and focused heeling and other OB work. They are awesome little dogs.

We treat Balto just like we do the big guys as he thinks he's 15# going on 80. Having the little guy has been good for my hubby as well as before we got Balto, he believed some of the myths surrounding little dogs, such as incessant barkers, impossible to train or housebreak and they can't walk far so they need to be carried everywhere. The funny thing is Balto would rather walk than be carried and I love the expression on people's faces when I tell them he walks 1mile and a half with his lab/lab mix siblings everyday and keeps up. It's so priceless!
